What more could you ask for? (1) Bring Demon Hunter out of tour hibernation.
(2) Usher Living Sacrifice, the godfathers of Christian hardcore, out of retirement.
(3) Mix in the evolution of what was Embodyment (Embrace), enter The Famine.
(4) Add two up and coming hardcore bands, Oh, Sleeper and Advent, and you have yourself The Stronger Than Hell Tour (2008)

I arrived late with my posse, missing Advent, but we got there in time to see the entire set for The Famine. When their set was over I commented to my mulleted friend, "They sounded a lot like Embodyment." He agreed. (see note below on The Famine) The Famine was brutal, their brand of thrash/metal/hardcore strikes a chord that resonates with my being (cheesy but true).

Oh, Sleeper put on a good show and was well received by the crowd. The bulk of my concert going experience has been in Southern California and Portland, so I was curious as to how Seattle would treat newer bands and the "un-scene". I was pleasantly suprised that the crowd moved well and there were plenty of "un-scene" kids doing their craziness without any hassle - kudos Seattle!

The return of Living Sacrifice was everything that you could hope for. This may be the best tour to visit them on as they are not currently promoting a new album and are free to play all of the best from their last four albums. Their energy was great and everyone was into the set. As the time passed there was a sense of anticipation bordering on despair, would they play Reject - would we finally get to see it live? Sure enough (SPOILER ALERT) they closed their set with Reborn, Empowered and Reject.

Seeing Demon Hunter in their hometown was indescribable, there was just a sense that this is how a tour is supposed to be sent off. They played a brutal mix of all of the best songs, even playing Infected from their debut album. This tour boasts such a good line-up that there was almost a necessity for some calmer songs in order to refresh for the finale. (SPOILER ALERT) Then it was over. Demon Hunter left the stage and we wanted more - "One more song!" Just at the point of despair, they seriously gave it a good few minutes, the band returned with not one but three encore songs.

Return of Embodyment?!
AKA Sophmore Release of the real Embodyment
The Famine - The Raven And The Reaping

...I heard the set live, thought they sounded like Embodyment (huge compliment). Bought the CD (day before the release) and recognized Chris as the former lead singer on Embrace The Eternal. My curiosity was peaked and checked out their MySpace page, read the debut article and discovered that this is the trio that produced Embrace with the addition of a new bass player.

So, with all due respect to The Famine, this is the sophmore release of the real Embodyment! This is the album that should have ripped off my ears in 2000. All of you who were decimated by that experience, here is your redemption - get this friggin album and revive your desolate soul.

Currently on tour with Demon Hunter and Living Sacrifice - Storm The Gates of Hell Tour 2008.
